I think the door may have been shut one of the last times BDG got banned, but she has so many alter egos (Taxi being the current one) it seems a bit pointless. |

Sparks - here's a rule of thumb I've always found to hold (sticking with the more well known substances)
the addition of drink or chemicals to someones system will invariably heighten the mood they're in at the time you're in great form - drink can add to a good night by reducing some inhibitions and relaxing you dope can make you chill out and smile a lot - everyone is your friend and there are no problems you can't solve e can increase the happy buzz you're on and make you feel 'loved up' coke is for muppets - 'nuff said you're in shite form - drink can make you maudlin and, by reducing those same inhibitions, make you very anti-social dope can still chill you out but make you more introspective and not so cheery e can add a bit too much of an edge to your buzz coke is still for muppets - just now they think they're the hulk all in all the drug in use is less of an issue compared to the individual using it

Cheers wake.
Believe it or not, it's not an area I ever learnt much about personally. |

So the Swearing Lady's point stands - any use of the abuse of substances to excuse behaviour is fucked up, and to have a supposedly qualified, intelligent judge making those excuses (if that's what he was doing, and what other basis was there to suspend the sentence for a violent attack?) is WELL out of order.
I've said it so many times here and elsewhere - if you don't know, ASK, don't assume. |

I don't think the judge mentioned E in his sentencing: Quote:

Okay, so the SL's point still stands. IF that was why he gave a suspended sentence, then he was out of order. I'm not saying his actual excuse was any better, mind you.

It would have been a lot funnier if he'd claimed that his staff issued the sentence and he never sees what's sent out in his name. A LOT funnier. Not for Mary Shannon though.

Hmmm, scumbag is let off the hook and acts like a scumbag. My, there's a shock. Hopefully that gem of our judiciary, mister justice Carney, will be a bit slower to let convicted rapists off the hook next time.
